Support for employees switching to a HDHP

A large mining company was switching to a HDHP and was worried that their small HR staff would be unable to handle employee questions. In addition, their remote location made it easy for local doctors to price gouge their employees. The company was also unhappy with their current disease management program.

Health Advocate implemented a single toll-free number to help handle call volume and reduce the burden on the client’s HR staff. In addition, by analyzing the client’s claims data, we were able to mail healthy reminders to employees who had gaps in care and encouraged them to engage with a Health Advocate nurse telephonically. To help address the price gouging, employees were encouraged to use our Health Cost Estimator+ pricing transparency solution which allowed employees to shop around for care and compare prices.

As a bonus, employees found that relatives (spouses, dependents, parents and parents-in-law), even those who live far away, could also use the benefit – giving them peace of mind.
